Liner Recycling Initiative

About Us

Our Mission

Develop a robust, national-scale, recycling program for silicone-coated paper release liner that connects both small and large label end-users that generate release liner to qualified recycling mills.

The label industry has long recognized that it has an imperative to reduce the amount of label byproducts that are being landfilled. TLMI’s Release Liner Recycling Committee, comprised of volunteer TLMI members, has been working on solutions to offer end-users for many years, but with varying levels of success.

To advance our goal of reducing label byproducts going to landfill, TLMI, with support from CELAB North America, and Resource Recycling Systems (RRS) has established an intensified recycling project called the Liner Recycling Initiative (LRI). The LRI will focus on paper release liner and will involve two regional pilots – Chicagoland and the Northeastern United States. The LRI will establish best practices, create mill specifications, and showcase landfill reduction benefits, with an open invitation for all label supply chain members to participate.
